COVID-19 Update: WE ARE OPEN! Letter to Our Le Petit Gan Families
To Our Le Petit Gan Families,
Nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our children and staff. As we transition into safely welcoming back your children, we want you to know that we are taking every precaution to ensure a safe environment for everyone at Le Petit Gan Preschool.
While we have adjusted our protocols, we remain ready to provide the love, care, education, and safety that your children have come to know at Le Petit Gan. We are closely monitoring guidelines by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well as state and local government agencies.
Please find the guidelines below given by the Department of Health and the Department of Child and Social Services, as it contains important information regarding our new procedures:
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Information
Drop-off and pick-up will be at different times for designated age groups. Please see below for your child’s drop-off and pick-up time.

Classroom & Staff
We have extended the indoor classroom and have brought the classroom outdoors, allowing more space and room for proper social distancing.
- Classroom sized will be limited to 5-10 students
- Siblings will be put in the same classroom
- Staff will remain with the same class all day
- Students will practice social distancing by being given a mat or marking for their designated space and will remain in their designated space when in the classroom
- Activities will be arranged for smaller groups that encourage individual learning
- Furniture and play spaces will maintain separation of 6-feet
- Each classroom will be supplied with bins labeled “dirty” and “clean” for toys that have been used and disinfected
Our staff will follow strict training procedures provided by the Department of Health and the Department of Child and Social Services, including:
- Staff have been self-isolating for weeks prior to the school’s reopening
- Staff will have temperatures checked upon entering the school
- Staff will wear masks at all times
- Staff will have to wash/sanitize hands every 30 minutes
Toys/Materials
Toys and materials will be assigned to each classroom and will remain in the same classroom all day. All toys and materials will be disinfected every 30 minutes and as needed. No outside toys will be allowed into the facility.
Snacks/Lunch
Only one staff member will prepare and serve snacks/lunch. We will only be using disposable paper plates, utensils, and paper cups (no water bottles). In addition, children will sit in alternating seats at tables.
Extracurricular Activities
All extracurricular activities will be done in the classroom via virtual teaching.
Nap Time
- All mats will remain 6 feet apart
- All mats will be labeled with each child’s name so they use the same mat throughout the day
- Mats will be disinfected before and after each use
- Heads will be in alternating positions during nap time
- Parents will need to provide a storage case for students who use pacifiers/loveys
- Pacifiers will be put in the dishwasher after each nap time
- Parents must provide a bottle with a cap for students who drink milk during nap time
- Bottles will be put in the dishwasher after each nap time
Cubbies
We are requesting that children keep only essential items in their cubbies.
- All extra clothes and blankets will be kept in individual sealed bags inside cubbies
- Diapers will be kept in their classroom cubby
- Bags will have to be taken home to wash each week
Cleaning/Safety Procedures
Cleaning staff will be routinely cleaning and disinfecting all surfaces and objects with medical-grade cleaning products.
- Toys and materials will be disinfected every 30 minutes and as needed
- Toys and materials in the “dirty” bin will be cleaned and then placed in the “clean” bin for new use
- Surfaces will be disinfected every 30 minutes and as needed
- Sink and toilet handles will be disinfected before and after each use
- Students will wash/sanitize their hands every 30 minutes
- Students 3 years and older will wear a mask (we will provide one mask per student)
- Masks will be kept in students’ cubbies
As we have made many adjustments to our protocols during this time, we remain ready to provide children with the utmost safety and care.
